Denny Bucher for Mayor of New Bern

Dennis K. (Denny) Bucher was born in Valparaiso Indiana and grew up on a dairy farm, the oldest of five children. He attended Indiana University and served in the U.S. Army. He is married to the former Diann DeArmitt and they have two children, David Bucher and Stephanie Beyer Seymore, both of New Bern. They have seven grandchildren.

He began his career with Bridgestone/Firestone as a salesman in the Gary Indiana Firestone store. During his 37 years with the company, Denny and Diann moved 14 times and lived in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Florida. He advanced with the company serving in a number of sales and management positions during his career. He retired in 2001 and at that time was the President / CEO of Bridgestone Aircraft Tire, responsible for all Bridgestone Aircraft activities in North and South America.

After moving constantly for 37 years, Denny and Diann chose New Bern as their retirement home and moved here in 2001. They found their home and the time and motivation to invest and participate in their community. In 2005, Denny, David and Stephanie founded Family Tire & Auto Service in New Bern. In 2009 they opened their second location in Morehead City and in 2012 the third location was opened in Jacksonville N.C.

Since retiring, Mr. Bucher has been involved in a number of areas. He is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he teaches an adult Bible study. He has served as a past Chairman of the local S.C.O.R.E. chapter where he assisted a number of local businesses. He is past Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Fireman’s Museum, and he has served on the Board of Directors of the Eastern Pregnancy Information Clinc. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of A.C.T., Allies for Cherry Point Tomorrow and as a member of the Board of Directors of the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce. He also coached youth basketball and Little League baseball for several years.

In 2009 Mr. Bucher was elected Alderman for New Bern’s third Ward. He has enjoyed working with city leaders as well as serving the residents of the third Ward. He is passionate about the potential of New Bern and wants to continue to see improvement in all areas of the city.

In his spare time he enjoys golf, bicycling, landscaping and working on his antique vehicles.
